I am fascinated by the ecology, evolution, and biomechanics of animal movement. Much of my current research investigates how environmental variation affects the dynamic and fine-scale interactions between small-bodied vertebrates (e.g., lizards, frogs, fishes) and their physical surroundings during locomotion. I use a variety of approaches and techniques to study these interactions at multiple levels of biological organization, including high-speed videography of live animals and high-resolution imaging of their micromorphology.
